Homeward bound

How did we get to mid March already?
A lot has happened sine my last post- so much for chronicling . I took some footage and photos  over summer and sometime in the future  I might get around to posting, but for now, there's a lot going on. 
Since the new year :

• We sold our apartment here in NY
• I've been to Austin, Texas , Miami and Sacramento

but the big news is we've bought a place in Nymboida NSW.  The house is on the top of a ridge on  25 acres (10 hectares)  of bush with the Nymboida River on its southern boundary. It's 45 kms south west of Grafton the nearest big town.  (That fish  on the right is a Clarence River Cod caught (and released) in a stretch of the Nymboida near our block.
The land's traditional owners, the Gumbaynggir people, and their ancestors lived and traveled in this land for over 40,000 years.  
We hope to spend our time supporting ourselves as simply and happily as possible.  We plan most of the following activities for those who might worry about me getting bored. 

• grow a BIG veggie garden and keep chooks to feed ourselves
• swim
• sit on the deck
• play guitar
• fish 
• take a drive to the beach 1 hour away 
• kayak 
• hike and bike the bush trails in the numerous National Parks and nature reserves close by
• receive visiting friends 

In 10 days, we're flying down to Atlanta, renting a car and driving down for 3 nights in New Orleans, 3 in Memphis and 3 in  Nashville. Hope to hear some great music and eat great Southern food. That'll just leave Alaska as the one  US state we have not yet visited.

Then we have six weeks to pack up, get our stuff on a ship, sell the car and  on May 30th, jump on the plane to Oz, with an 8 day vacay on the Big Island in Hawaii en route.   Yikes!
